Ellen Meriwether Joins AAI Advisory Board12/18/2009 Ellen Meriwether has been a litigation partner with Cafferty Faucher since its inception in 1992 and is resident in its Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Office. Ms. Meriwether has represented clients in all the firm's major industry areas, including pharmaceuticals, airlines, insurance and financial services, technology and manufacturing. Her recent practice has emphasized antitrust and consumer fraud and protection and she is currently representing plaintiffs in pending MDL matters including: In re Insurance Brokers Antitrust Litigation, (D.N.J. ); In Re Compensation of MPT Employees Antitrust Litigation (D.N.J.); In re OxyContin Antitrust Litigation (S.D.N.Y.); In re Ciprofloxacin Antitrust Litigation (E.D.N.Y.), and In re Tamoxifen Antitrust Litigation (E.D.N.Y). Ms Meriwether has had an active role in some of the firm’s most recent successful actions including: Nichols v. SmithKlineBeecham Corp. (E. D. Pa.) (consumer and third party payor settlement of $65 million); In re Relafen Antitrust Litigation (D. Mass.) (consumer and third party settlement of $75 million). Ms. Meriwether is an active member of the Federal Courts Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association, and has chaired several of its subcommittees. She is the course planner and moderator for the Committee’s annual presentation of “My First Federal Trial,” an award-winning program that gives young lawyers the opportunity to hear from a panel of federal judges from the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Her professional educational activities also include service for five years as an Adjunct Professor in the honors program of LaSalle University. Ms Meriwether has recently published an article in Antitrust, a publication by the section of Antitrust Law of the American Bar Association, entitled " (Vol. 21, No. 3, Summer 2007). "Rigorous Analysis in Certification of Antitrust Class Actions: A Plaintiff's Perspective." (94 kb pdf download). She has attained the highest rating, “AV”, from Martindale-Hubbell. In 2007, Ms Meriwether was recognized in Philadelphia Magazine's Annual Survey as one of the "Top 50 Women Super Lawyers" in Pennsylvania, and has been named a “Pennsylvania Super Lawyer” in each of the past three years. Education Ms. Meriwether received her law degree magna cum laude in 1985 from George Washington University, where she was a member of the George Washington Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif. Her undergraduate degree was conferred with highest honors by LaSalle University in 1981.
