The American Antitrust Institute welcomes Dan Drachler of Zwerling, Schachter & Zwerling, LLP to its Advisory Board.
Mr. Drachler concentrates in the areas of antitrust, consumer and securities class action litigation. He co-chairs the firm’s antitrust practice group and has over 30 years’ experience representing the interests of consumers, businesses, and state, local and tribal governments.
Prior to joining his firm, Mr. Drachler served as Chief Deputy Attorney General for the State of New York where he supervised and coordinated all legal matters in the Department of Law. He has also served as an adjunct professor of law and has lectured on antitrust issues as well as issues involving the intersection of government and private counsel in class action litigation.
Last fall, the AAI awarded Mr. Drachler, with co-counsel Joseph R. Saveri and Eric Fastiff, Outstanding Antitrust Litigation Achievement in Private Law Practice for representing California consumers and third party payors in In re Cipro Cases I & II, a class action lawsuit filed in California state court under the Cartwright Act. The AAI described the achievement: “In a 17-year path to resolution, defendants defeated the federal MDL actions, leaving the California Cipro case as the lone significant remedy for consumers. The result—settlements exceeding single damages—stands as a vindication of the policies of the Cartwright Act. The Cipro litigation is an exemplary illustration of what antitrust law can do to achieve measurable results for those harmed.”
The AAI Advisory Board consists of outstanding experts in the fields of antitrust law, economics, and business, with a focus on both domestic and international competition enforcement and policy. AAI Advisory Board members are a vital part of the organization and play an important role in helping AAI promote competition that protects consumers, businesses, and society through its research, education, and advocacy programs.
